Hillmen Boys defeat Dodgeville 73-67 in SWC Contest

Platteville erased an eight-point halftime deficit and outlasted Dodgeville in a hard-fought SWC battle, earning a 73–67 victory on Friday night. The Dodgers held a 33–25 advantage at the break, but the Hillmen responded with improved energy and execution in the second half, tying the game at 44 with just over twelve minutes remaining. Platteville briefly seized momentum when Grady Poppy knocked down a three-pointer to give the Hillmen a 47–44 lead, which was later extended to 50–44. Dodgeville answered by tying the game at 50, but Platteville continued to answer every challenge down the stretch.

A basket by Braden Streight off a well-timed assist from Will Zielinski put Platteville back in front, 52–50, and the teams exchanged the lead several times over the next three minutes in a tense stretch of basketball. The Hillmen finally took control for good on a Jace Digman layup, then closed out the game at the free-throw line to secure the win. Grady Poppy led all scorers with 21 points, while Myron Reuter added 18 and Jauron Blevins chipped in 11. With the win, Platteville improved to 2–1 in the SWC and 4–5 overall. The Hillmen return to action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Warren High School in Illinois to face Rockford Christian in the Stateline Classic, with tipoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
