The Belmont/Platteville wrestling program had an outstanding weekend at the WIAA State Individual Tournament, highlighted by podium finishes from Briggs and Dylan Weigel.
At 132 pounds, Briggs Weigel earned a 3rd-place finish after a hard-fought tournament. His only loss came in a tight 9–6 match to the eventual state champion, and he responded with toughness and determination to finish on the podium.
At 144 pounds, Dylan Weigel closed out his high school career with a runner-up finish, dropping an 8–6 battle in the state finals. Dylan finishes his career as a 4x state qualifier, 2x state runner-up, and with an incredible 205–27 overall record. More than the accolades, Dylan’s leadership, consistency, and competitive spirit helped define Belmont/Platteville wrestling over the past four years.
This marks the first time since 2020 that Belmont/Platteville has had multiple boys place at the state tournament — a proud moment for the entire program and community.
Congratulations to Briggs and Dylan on an incredible weekend and to Dylan on a truly remarkable career.
