The postseason success continues for Platteville.
Behind a strong second-half surge, the Hillmen defeated the Lodi Blue Devils 72–61 Saturday night in the WIAA Regional Championship at Platteville High School. The victory secured Platteville’s third consecutive regional title and marked the fifth regional championship for the program in the past nine seasons.
With the win, the Hillmen improved to 18–9 overall and advanced to the sectional round for the third straight year.
After a competitive opening first ten minutes of the contest Lodi was able to put together a run to take a 34-23 advantage into halftime. Platteville found another gear after the break.
The Hillmen erupted for 49 second-half points, turning a tight game into a comfortable margin as they pushed the tempo and capitalized on defensive pressure.
Senior forward Grady Poppy led the way with a game-high 27 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the field while also pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out three assists. Poppy’s presence inside helped the Hillmen establish control in the paint throughout the night.
Senior guard Myron Reuter added 22 points, attacking the rim and converting 8-of-10 free throws while also collecting five rebounds. Reuter played a key role in keeping the offense flowing during the Hillmen’s decisive second-half run.
Jauron Blevins contributed 9 points and four rebounds, while Braden Streight also scored 9 points, connecting on two three-pointers. Brody Digman added 5 points and four assists, helping orchestrate the offense from the guard position.
With the regional championship secured, Platteville now turns its attention to the Lancaster Flying Arrows in the WIAA Sectional Semifinal on Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 PM. The game location will be announced by the WIAA later Sunday or Monday when sectional sites are finalized.
For the Hillmen, Saturday’s victory adds another chapter to a growing postseason tradition—five regional championships in nine seasons and three straight titles as the program continues its journey through the Magic of March!
