Platteville’s Mikala Schnering collected three hits in three at-bats, but Platteville’s Softball Team lost to Fennimore 16-6 on Tuesday at Legion Park. Mikala Schnering tripled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning.
Fennimore opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Fennimore first got on the board when Mumm singled, scoring one run.
An error, and a home run to left field by Maier helped Fennimore extend their early lead in the second.
A fielder’s choice by Zink, and a home run to left field by Furrer helped Fennimore extend their early lead in the third.
Fennimore scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Richardson doubled, scoring one run, Meckley grounded out, scoring one run, Zink singled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, an error scored one run, and Maier singled, scoring one run.
Furrer earned the win for Fennimore. The pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking one. Mia Huser took the loss for the Hillmen. She pitched three and one-third innings, allowing 14 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits, striking out two and walking three.
Kimber Bakken went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Mikala Schnering also stole two bases for the Hillmen.
Fennimore piled up 13 hits in the game. Furrer set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Fennimore with three hits in four at-bats. Richardson collected two hits for Fennimore in four at-bats. Zink stole two bases. Fennimore ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
