Platteville Varsity Hillmen scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to beat the Flying Arrows 13-3. The Arrows jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first then picked up another run in the 2nd inning. The defense then locked in and did not give up another run the rest of the game. The Hillmen got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd on a 2 out base hit by Evan Johnson and then was driven by my classmate Carson Opgenorth on a line drive to left field. The Arrows would commit 2 errors in the bottom of the 5th inning that led to plattevilles big inning.The Hillmen would string together 8 hits, and 4 walks to close out a 12 run inning. Senior Brycen Carl would deliver a 1 out single to drive in the final run of the game. Platteville´s Ace Senior Evan Johnson started on the mound going 5 innings, giving up 7 hits, three runs, walking 2 and striking out 6. Johnson struggled early in the game to find the zone and giving up some blop hits but was able to settle in after the 3rd and control the arrows hitters. Johnson also lead the offensive attack going 3 for 3 with a walk at the plate. Senior Classmate Tyler Sasse also collected 2 hits on the day while 6 other Hillmen added a hit a piece. The Hillmen return to action on Thursday as they travel to Mineral Point to take on the Pointers @ 4:30.
