Platteville JV Boys win a thriller over Richland Center JV 44-41

The Platteville Jv Boys traveled to Richland Center for the first time in a SWC match this year. The host Hornets came out with high ball pressure and were able to rattle the Hillmen in the first half. The Hillmen struggled shooting in the first half and trailed by 6 at the break. (24-18) The second half was a turn on the offensive end and the Hillmen outscored the Hornets 26-17. The Hillmen never led the game until there was :16.3 seconds left in the contest. Richland Center was up by 2 and shooting a one and one bonus free throw. They would miss the first and Junior Harper Schumacher would grab the rebound and dribble the length of the court to finish a layup and get fouled. With the game tied at 41 H. Schumacher would knock down the and 1 to put the Hillmen up 1. With :6.5 secs left the Hornets would turn the ball over and have to foul sending Sophomore Cody Nodolf to the charity stripe. Nodolf would knock down 2 big free throws to seal the win for the Hillmen. The Hillmen were lead in scoring by Junior Harper Schumacher with 10, Hudson Weittenhiller with 9, Randyn Schumacher with 8, Corey Grabandt, Cody Nodolf, and Aiden Voigts all contributed 4 a piece, while Keegan Weigel and Paxton Wehnke added 2 each, and Owen Hromadka chipped in a key free throw. The Hillmen improve to 10-8 and return to action Friday night when they travel to Spring Green to take on the Blackhawks of River Valley. Tip time set for 6:00 with the Varsity contest to follow.
