Platteville trailed by as many as six runs, but put together a big bottom of the 6th rally to win 7-6. Four hits, 2 errors on the blackhawks, a walk and sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the 6th is what mounted the come back for the Hillmen. Senior Tyler Sasse set the tempo by beating out an infield single to start the rally. Sophomore Keegan Weigel came in to pinch hit for the Hillmen and delivered a big line drive to left field. Junior DH Landon Donahoe reached on, an error, then Brycen Carl drew a walk bringing home the first run of the inning. After the Blackhawks changed pitchers Junior OF Alex Cullen stepped in the box and delivered the big blow by hitting a full count double to right centerfield driving in 2 runs making the score 6-4. Junior Aiden Weigel reached on an error behind Cullen scoring a run and Junior classmate Brody Digman hit a sac fly to Left field to tie the game at 6. With 2 outs and the go ahead run on second Senior leader Carson opgenorth stepped to the plate and hit a line drive down the left field line plating the go ahead run. Evan Johnson started on the mound for the Hillmen going 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), walking 2 and striking out 5. Junior Brody Digman came in for the final inning and did his job well. Digman faced 5 batters allowing 2 hits and striking out 1. What a great Team win for the Hillmen. They improve to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The Hillmen will travel to Dodgeville on Tuesday May 5th to take on the Dodgers for a first place battle in the SWC.
